Technology for Healthcare: Effective, Sensible and Safe Implementation (THESSI)

Technology plays a crucial role in today’s society and is interwoven in everday activities, those who can successfully design and implement technology are ready for the future. Healthcare is greatly enhanced by technology, and (health) professionals that are competent with technology perform better.

This summer school is about becoming technology-competent, with a focus on healthcare. In all that we do, we ask ourselves: how can technology contribute to better healthcare, service delivery and quality of life? To resolve problems from real patients, therapists and researchers, you will learn to think like a designer and find effective, sensible and safe technological solutions that you can test. To get there, the Design Thinking method guides you from one phase to the next, this method allows you to work reflective, iterative and experiment with your newly developed technology. Throughout these two weeks, your creativity will be challenged while exploring new and unfamiliar technologies, when mapping and meeting relevant stakeholders to find original and testable solutions to present-day problems, and in sharing your insights to have a lasting impact on the advancement of healthcare.
