Living in the Netherlands

There is a lot to see and experience in the Netherlands. On this page you will find practical information about living here. Make sure you make the most of your stay by connecting with other students. Your network will be invaluable for your stay and career and will give you friends for life from all over the world.

Student life

Fontys study associations

A great way to meet a lot of people is to join a study association. They are connected to your study programme and organise all kinds of online and offline activities for international students during the year.

Student accommodation

It is not easy for international students to find accommodation in the Netherlands. Fontys offers a service to provide students with assistance in securing suitable furnished accommodation (i.e. a student room) for the first period of their studies at Fontys.

Purple introduction week for newcomers

Every year, some 10,000 new students start at Fontys. The measures taken in the context of the Corona crisis mean that we cannot tackle and achieve this in the same way this year. Team Purple at Fontys has set to work on creating an alternative plan in which Purple's original objective is still the same: a warm welcome and a good start to your studies in which getting to know your study programme, fellow students, your class and teachers is central.
