Basic IT facilities
Fontys Student Account
Students are automatically given a Fontys account at the start of studies. This Fontys account allows (also with a private laptop, desktop, tablet or smartphone) the use of:
- Access via the wireless network of Fontys and Eduroam
- Personal email
- Access to the personal portal page
- Access to personal data storage
- Access personal Office365 account
- Access to printing and scanning facilities
- Skype for Business
Via Office Online, every Fontys student has the opportunity to install all Office 2016 applications free of charge. Every student also has access to 1 TB OneDrive storage space, which you can synchronise with various devices.
Your files will be stored online (in the cloud); you can access them everywhere where you have internet connection.
Fontys E-mail offers access to a mailbox, the use of an agenda and the Fontys address book. E-mail can be used with o365.fontys.nl/mail. In addition, it is also possible to use webmail on mobile devices (iPads, smartphones and other tablets). Fontys E-mail prefers to work with the Outlook web app.
The standard size of a Student mailbox is initially 1 GB.

Fontys Student Card
The student card is provided once free of charge at the beginning of or during the academic year to all students who register for the first time at Fontys University of Applied Sciences. You will receive a student card when you are registered and you have uploaded a passport photo via www.fontyskaart.nl.
My Online Workstation
My Online Workstation is a virtual workstation which works essentially the same as a standard physical workstation at Fontys.
My Online Workstation is intended for access to applications and the M: (home directory) and the N: (group directory) drives on your own device, wherever you may be.
The StudentApp 'MijnFontys' shows you your studyresults, important messages and news. As a student you receive pushnotificatons about schedule changes, grades and a calender with important dates, for example exams, internships, submit assigments etc. (depending on wether your department made it available in the app).
Filesender is available to all students for the exchange of large files.
Servicedesk - Support - Manuals
The IT Service Desk is available by telephone, email and WhatsApp from Monday through Friday, from 8.00 to 17.00 hours.
You can also visit an IT Servicepoint at your location.
Skype for Business
With Skype for Business, students can make use at Fontys of presence information, video conferencing, calling multiple persons at one time, chats and the webcam.

FontysConnect is the portal environment in which you collaborate with each other, create and share documents and publish information.
The personalized Startpage shows each user his or her information and documents. This includes teaching materials, communications by course, the various grids and study results.
