(Public)transport

The distance from the hostel to the campus of the Summer School is 3 km. You can walk via the beautiful park of the Technical University Eindhoven. Or you can rent a bike (on average 8 euro per day) via the hostel or the bike shop at the Eindhoven central station. You can also travel by bus or train. The train is a good option when you want to visit another city.

When travelling by bus or train, you can use a single-use chipcard or an OV-chipkaart (smart card). The single-use chipcard is perfect for occasionally trips. You can buy the chipcard at the NS ticketing machine or service desk. Single-use chipcards have a surcharge of 1 euro. You don’t have to charge credit to the card, you only need to check in and out.

If you plan to use the train or bus reguraly while staying in the Netherlands, we recommend buying an ‘anonymous OV-chipkaart’ (which can also be used on trams and metros). You can buy the OV-chipkaart at NS ticketing machines or the service desk. There is an one-time fee of EUR 7.50. Your OV-chipkaart is activated as soon as you have topped up its balance and used it to travel with NS. This can be done at an NS ticking machine. If you want to travel by train, you need at least 20 euros worth of balance on your OV-chipkaart! You use the card to check in and check out. For more information, check the website.
