approximately 260 hours (60 hours lessons plus 5-7 hours homework per week).

Entry requirements

The CAE course is for people who want to take their English to an even higher level than First Certificate in English. All candidates for the CAE course (except those with an FCE or equivalent certificate) do a digital intake test and a writing assignment to ensure they are at the correct level for the course.
The test is a so called placement test, giving an indication of the level of the course a student can be placed in. It does not imply that the student has already achieved that level, but it indicates he/she can participate in a course of that level. The test costs 50 euros and is NOT included in the course price.

Introduction

The FLOT-Academy CAE Course is for high achievers in the professional and academic world. A Certificate in Advanced English is the key to showcase your outstanding English ability and help you achieve your dreams and ambitions in life. If you use written and spoken English for work or study at upper-intermediate (B2/C1) level, then this course helps you improve your English to C1 level – the second highest on the CEF scale. If you want to confirm your achievement, there is the opportunity to take the Cambridge ESOL CAE exam at the end of the course. C1 is the level of English required for demanding academic and professional settings, and shows that you are highly proficient in English.

Goal

The goal of the Certificate in Advanced English course is to raise your English to a proper advanced (C1) level. The course ends with an optional official CAE exam at the British Council. Of course, we encourage all our students to take the exam!

Please note: the exam fee is NOT included in the course fee.

Content

During each lesson all skills -- listening, speaking, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, reading and writing -- are practiced. There is also plenty of time for questions and explanations. Homework comprises self-study assignments from the work book, Exam Practice and a Writing portfolio work. All lessons are given in English.

Method

Work forms are tuned to the skill being learned, and group work and interaction is encouraged during all lessons. Alongside the lessons, you will be required to work independently on your work book assignments and your portfolio.
