Enjoy International Marketing and Export at Fontys
Companies can no longer limit their radius to their home market or traditional foreign markets. In-depth knowledge about globalisation and internationalisation strategies have become indispensable tools for successful managers. The minor “International Marketing & Export” at the Fontys School of Economics in Tilburg provides students with the necessary skills in the fields of international management & marketing and prepares students for careers in export management and international marketing. During the project attention is paid to sustainability.
Target Audience & Entry Level
This programme has been designed for Bachelor degree students who are in their 2nd or 3rd year and have a basic knowledge of marketing. English equivalent of 6.0 IELTS or CEFR B2. The student's major should be business related.
Students will work in groups on the project. They will analyse companies and their target markets in order to determine optimum export policy plans and marketing strategies. They will then present their findings to the international managers at the companies.
The main aims of this programme include the following:
- That students learn how to analyse international organisations in order to determine optimum export policies for such organisations.
- That students learn which strategic decisions are made by international companies and the financial consequences thereof.
- That students formulate export policy plans and strategic marketing plans for multinational organisations that wish to expand their international business.
- That students learn how to successfully manage and market innovations in international organisations.
Marketing, Export and Management project (22 ECTS)
In this challenging project you will work on three main skills: research skills, advisory skills marketing and advisory skills management.
During this module you work for an existing company on a current international marketing and management problem they experience. You will learn how to set up structural international market research in order to give strategic advice. You will define which information is necessary, which tools you will need specifically for this company and this problem, and will look at the challenges by taking a helicopter view. You will work closely with your project group (3-4 students). The assessment at the end of the project will be with the project group but the grading is individual. Your personal performance will also be taken in account by using peer reviews.
Business English (4 ECTS)
The Business English course focuses on the future attainment of a Cambridge Certificate of Business English at C1 level (Bec Higher).
You can choose one of the options below to complete the 30 ECTS.
Market Research (Optional, 4 ECTS)
You will receive in-depth insights about setting up and carrying out a good market research.
German, French, Spanish (Optional, 4 ECTS)
We offer year 3 courses in both Business German and Business French at B1 level (productive) and B2 level (receptive). Business Spanish is taught at A2 (productive) and B1 (receptive). You are taught by native speakers of the language.
Dutch culture (Optional, 4 ECTS)
This course will guide you through the cultural aspects of doing business in the country you are living in during the minor.
All incoming students will be given a buddy group. This group consists of regular students at Fontys School of Economics. The Dutch students will take the students around Tilburg, show them Dutch student life and will be available when the incoming students have questions or if they need help.
In case of an emergency or distress the school has native speakers of English, French, German and Spanish among the staff.
How will your course programme be recognised by your home university?
Fontys will provide you with a so-called ‘Transcript of Records’, which will clarify the results that you have achieved. Depending on your results, you will receive a maximum of 30 ECTS credits. ECTS credits are recognised throughout Europe. The agreement between your home university and Fontys University of Applied Sciences will usually include a condition whereby the credits that you obtain will be recognised and transferred into the records kept by your home university.
Applications should always be submitted via the International Exchange (or Erasmus) Officer at the home university. If several versions of the programme are offered, please indicate for which version you would like to apply to (Programme I, Programme II, Programme III, etc.) This officer will send your application request (nomination) to Fontys. Once Fontys has accepted the application, your Fontys study department will send you a link to a web application called Mobility Online.
