Enjoy Mechatronics Engineering S4, Spring semester, at Fontys Eindhoven

Mechatronics is a combination of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and computer science. In this program, you are a thinker and a doer. You find out how to make your devices safer and easier to use. And of course: you design them! Think of an automated car wash, a production robot or in healthcare a wheelchair or robot arm replacement. Mechatronics has become an indispensable working field. We teach you the theory and practical knowledge and learn you to be a specialist in systematic design techniques including the control of robotic products and machinery.

Within the programme Mechatronics the distance between teachers and students is quite close. You will get classes given by teachers who have worked in the field of mechatronics. They know what is happening n the rapidly changing world of mechatronics. You will practice your technical skills and conduct challenging projects that lead to innovative products.

Important note: The Mechatronics Semester 4 program will not be offerd in the Spring Semester 2022 due to curriculum changes/ adjustments. The program will available again in the Spring Semester 2023.

This programme has been designed for Bachelor students who have completed at least two years of studies in Electrical Engineering.

Mind that you need to have a background of 4 semester study in Electronic Engineering to be successful in this Exchange program.

How will your course programme be recognised by your home university?

Fontys will provide you with a so-called ‘Transcript of Records’, which will clarify the results that you have achieved. Depending on your results, you will receive a maximum of 30 ECTS credits. ECTS credits are recognised throughout Europe. The agreement between your home university and Fontys University of Applied Sciences will usually include a condition whereby the credits that you obtain will be recognised and transferred into the records kept by your home university.

How to apply as an exchange student

Applications should always be submitted via the International Exchange (or Erasmus) Officer at the home university. If several versions of the programme are offered, please indicate for which version you would like to apply to (Programme I, Programme II, Programme III, etc.) This officer will send your application request (nomination) to Fontys. Once Fontys has accepted the application, your Fontys study department will send you a link to a web application called Mobility Online. Added to the link you will receive all necessary information and a manual. Please take a look at this website to see how it works.

Education has changed rapidly in the past months to online learning and we are moving towards a future where blended learning is a given fact. As Fontys University of Applied Sciences, where Fontys School of Engineering is part of, decided that all international streams will provide a mix of online and physical education, we have to adapt our education to facilitate you in the best way possible, where you can experience the international aspect the most. Hence, Fontys School of Engineering has decided to offer only one exchange program for incoming exchange students starting in the Spring: EmbraceTEC. In this decision we took into account that this programme offers flexibility in content and organisation to make sure you can successfully finish your exchange period.
