Centre of inspiration
As well as being a centre of expertise the FECT aims to be a centre of inspiration for all students who wish to actively contribute to the circular transition. A place where students from all study programmes can come for expertise, internships, practical assignments and to acquire ideas and inspiration.
Minor Circular Economy
Students of the Minor Circular Economy are already involved in conducting practice-based research on behalf of a variety of parties.
Together with five other universities of applied sciences (Saxion, Windesheim, Hanze Hogescholen, VHL and Rotterdam Business School), Fontys is currently developing a new MOOC on the organisation of the circular economy. An MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) is a course where the course material is distributed via the web and where the participants are not tied to a single location.
From within the FECT, we aim to establish one permanent and a series of mobile hybrid workplaces, where researchers, students, businesses and external organisations can work together on practice-based research. Hybrid workplaces are aimed at multidisciplinary research for students, businesses and lecturing staff. This new form of working can also be part of a wider external research programme, together with other universities of applied sciences, universities, institutes for secondary vocational education and businesses. The learning environments are developed in such a way that the knowledge acquired can be transferred and applied in other study programmes in terms of organisation, examination and content.
