Your introduction week

Pay attention: on Monday we only have activities for students from abroad. There is no programme for Dutch students.

We will welcome you on August 22nd 2022 at 09.40 a.m. in the central hall of building R5. On this day you will receive all the information you need to get started and you will have fun with all new international students at International Business and International Communication Management! The end of the day will be around 3 p.m. At the end of the day programme at Fontys you can join the intro parents for more activities in the city centre of Eindhoven. Lunch on campus is included (other food and drinks are on your own expense.)

This day will start at 10:00 and you are expected at Fontys R3/R4 in your respective classes which will be sent to you by email. You will meet your tutor, study assistant, and fellow classmates. We will introduce you to the International Business study program, and the campus, and provide all other relevant information.

We will organize activities in the classes to get to know each other and ask any questions you may have. The introduction is the perfect opportunity to get to know your new classmates and often friendships are made here for the rest of your university career. A delicious outdoor lunch will also be provided as a part of the Introduction Week. This day is mandatory for all students, so please make sure you are there!

The official program will end at 15:30. After this, the study association of IB, ‘The Business Club’, has organized some activities that you can join in the city centre.

On Wednesday you will get to know your fellow students better during a fun picnic & sports and games event at the IJzeren Man (our city beach!) in Eindhoven. The day starts around 11:00 with a brunch and ends around 18:30 after a yummy BBQ dinner (including vegan & halal food) but more information will be provided to you at the beginning of the week.

In the evening, you have the opportunity to join more festive activities such as a HORECA Party & Pub Crawl organized by PURPLE, which will take place at Stratumseind in Eindhoven.

Please bring an extra set of clothing, your ID card, and some cash with you.

 

After a couple of years of strict COVID rules, the PURPLE festival is finally back!

Busses will take us to Tilburg, where the festival will take place. At this festival, more than 10.000 students from all Fontys locations will party together with performances & acts from DJs from around the Netherlands.

The International Business introduction programme is done. However, all international and Dutch students of international study programmes are invited to join 'The Introduction Day' on Campus Rachelsmolen in Eindhoven. This day is all about meeting other international students! You will find more information on that below. Please note: this is a Fontys wide initiative, which means that you will be able to meet internationals from other study programmes as well.

After this, your introduction week is done! Time to pack your things and head home. We hope you enjoyed it and made many new friends. Good luck during your studies and see you at Fontys! Be prepared for the start of the academic year upcoming week. 

It is forbidden to consume strong drink and drugs. Alcohol is only served and drunk from 4 p.m. In addition to soft drinks, beer and wine are served at the overnight locations during the festivities (from 4 p.m.). If we do find liquor and/or drugs, they will be confiscated and we may send you home. Under the age of 18, alcohol is completely prohibited. Students aged 18 or older will receive an 18+ wristband at the start of the introduction week upon presentation of their ID card.

During the entire introduction week, First Aid / In-house Emergency and First Aid is present. Employees can be recognized by their yellow vests.

Participating in the Introduction week will cost a total of 70 euros. Out of which 25 euros will be for the PURPLE activities, and 45 euros will be for the International Business activities (including food). For information about payments, please contact b.motiyani@fontys.nl.

We would like to be informed in advance if there are medical matters that we need to be aware of. This includes illnesses, (food) allergies (epipen) etc. You can report this to b.motiyani@fontys.nl.

Photos will be taken during the entire introduction week. These may be made public or used for promotional purposes. By participating in the introduction you agree to this (give permission for this).

It is expected that the current restrictions on the opening up of buildings and the provision of physical education will apply for a longer period of time. We therefore assume a blended-learning offer, a mix of physical and online education. This mix may vary per training course. When distributing the possibilities for physical education, priority is given to the first-year students because of their connection with the course.

The Fontys introduction week is called Purple and will take place from 23 to 27 August 2021. The programme starts with getting acquainted with fellow students and teachers at our location on the Campus Rachelsmolen. There you will form your own introductory group (including 'intro parents').

The Purple Introduction Week is all about getting to know each other. Getting to know classmates, getting to know the study programme, getting to know the city where the new students will be studying and, of course, getting to know the Fontys community!

Just like previous years, we are planning to make the Purple Introduction Week just as beautiful and fantastic as every year, of course within the measures that are in place at that time. All the 'new' measures will create a challenge, but Purple is motivated to make it a great week again!

During the introduction week a lot of photos and videos will be made. Ranging from selfies and videos on a mobile phone by fellow students to photos and videos by professional photographers and filmmakers. By participating in the introduction week you agree that the photos and/or videos will be published (on social media, flyers, advertisements and websites).
