Your Future Work; how to future proof your work and life

What the world needs now are people who are able to solve complex problems, who are creative, emotionally intelligent and flexible to make decisions together with machines and humans from different cultural and religious backgrounds. The program of Your Future Work stimulates the development of a personal and professional vision, attitude and set of behaviours to be able to relate to this emerging future and to deal with change.

“HRM, Psychology, Career Design and Technology were brand new topics for me. I learned a lot. This unique relationship between Eindhoven and myself has enabled me to develop and improve my professional skills. In the future, I am sure I will return because connections never disappear once they are connected by the heart. I will never forget the days in Eindhoven, the Netherlands”

We need people with grit!

We are living in a time full of changes, others call it the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This revolution that is giving us more choices and freedom than ever before. We have a large range of options concerning work opportunities. And we will have to deal with extensive challenges that impact our personal and professional lives and the planet as a whole. How can you learn to deal with this in a healthy way?

Fontys University of HRM and Psychology has developed Your Future Work to educate students with a curious attitude towards human sciences. Personal leadership and entrepreneurship will be challenged and strengthened during this program. Students are offered the opportunity to combine the knowledge from their own major with a better understanding of their ambitions and expectations of the future of work.

The courses of the programme are:

Career design:  Your own talent is the corner stone for being able to guide others. With a positive mind-set and a toolbox of skills, you’ll learn to change perspectives on life and career in order to achieve change. You’ll learn all of this in a rapidly changing world, affecting individuals and forcing to design ones career.

Mental health and happiness: The aim of this module is to provide you with insight into the seven foundations of wellbeing. On the basis of literature and practical exercises, you’ll become more aware of your thoughts, feelings, desires and values in order to make choices in life that will contribute to your happiness.

Relationships of the future:  In this module, you’ll study what is happening at a social level in society and the impact on a variety of different relationships. You’ll learn how to become a secure base for yourself and others.

Conflict management and mediation: You’ll study different ways to deal with conflicts. This module will provide you with an introduction to mediation, which is a method of conflict resolution that can be applied to disputes and conflicts that occur in business, work relationships, communities and families.

"I once again understand that Fontys’ teachers are much more than just teachers. They become friends with their students, almost family-like which is extremely important to me. I think that wherever I would go, I would not be able to find such wholehearted teachers doing everything they can for their students”
