Programme in brief

ICT English stream has five study programmes:

ICT & Software Engineering
ICT & Technology
ICT & Business
ICT & Media Design
ICT & Infrastructure

These 4-year English taught study programmes are international bachelor programmes, leading to the international Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree. With the knowledge and skills learned at Fontys University of Applied Sciences students can work as high-level engineers in the ICT sector. The first semester is identical for all five bachelor programmes. This gives you an opportunity to find out what programme suits you best. From the second semester you can choose to continue either in ICT & Software Engineering, ICT & Technology, ICT & Business, ICT & Media Design or ICT & Infrastructure with specialisations in Applied Data Science, Cyber Security, Game Design and Technology, Management and Security, Smart Industry and Smart Mobile. Projects and internships related to your bachelor choice will be an integrated part of the study programme.

What to expect from us

In ICT developments go very fast. New ideas and products may continue to exist, but may also quickly become “out of date”. In ICT the future is always changing. We therefore offer you basic ICT knowledge you can rely on in your future career. In your study programme you decide what specialisation you want to do. Our educational programmes have strong links with the ICT work field and an intensive collaboration with more than 120 companies. After you graduate you have all the ICT knowledge and skills you need to perform well in your future professional career. Hopefully this will be the start of an excellent career in Eindhoven Brainport region!

What do we expect from you

You are curious, flexible and you like to show initiative. You have perseverance and you enjoy working with others. You must realise that what you will learn today, may be outdated tomorrow! You like to learn based on (applied) research and development. You will learn how to generate new future knowledge. You choose your specialisation, develop your talents and you are curious to learn about developments in ICT. In certain cases you can join excellence programmes. Overall your study load will be ± 40 hours per week.

The Fontys way of studying

The Fontys teaching style is interactive and student-centered. It focuses on teamwork, which makes it easy to meet other international and Dutch students. A large part of all study programmes is dedicated to writing papers and working in groups to analyse and solve specific problems. Finance your study

The annual tuition fees for an ICT bachelor degree programme will be € 2209 for EU students (2022/2023). First year 50% = € 1105.

The tuition fee costs for non-EU students are generally higher. The tuition fee for them for ICT bachelor’s programmes is € 10.660 (2022/2023).

Fontys ICT offers scholarships for non-EU students and loans for EU students.

The average living expenses per month for a foreign student living and studying in the Netherlands are between € 700 and € 900 per month. These living expenses cover rent, insurance, food, public transportation, books, clothing and other general costs.

Admission requirements

International Baccalaureate or

Career-related Certificate of the International Baccalaureate or

(Dutch) HAVO or VWO certificate or

General Certificate Secondary Education (GCSE). Requirements: at least 6 exam subjects. Minimum for the examinee subjects is 4 GCSE subjects with grades A*, A, B or C and 2 GCE subjects at A/S Level (no specific grade required). A/S Level means advanced subsidiary level (previously advanced supplementary level). Mathematics should be part of examinee subjects; or

Open days

We organise several open days a year, during which you can visit our campus, see the facilities, attend presentations about the study programmes, meet lecturers and students. We also host several (online) events. Want to visit? For dates see website: - Get to know us - Virtual (open) day.


It is not always easy for international students to find accommodation in the Netherlands. Therefore, Fontys offers a service to provide students with assistance in securing suitable accommodation (e.g. a student room) for the first period of their studies at Fontys. Although Fontys does not have its own campus dorms, it has established cooperation with a number of different accommodations or housing agencies and landlords.
