Liset Pennings was born in 1985 in the Netherlands. She began her flute studies at the Fontys Conservatorium as a student of Leon Berendse, and she graduated in 2008 with distinction. Liset completed her Master's degree at the Royal Academy of Music (June 2010) in London with distinction, learning with William Bennett and Karen Jones, and was awarded the Dip RAM for an outstanding Final Exam.
Liset has given numerous solo performances and has been performing in famous concert halls, like the Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall and Kings Place in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the Tonhall in Zürich, working with conductors such as Pierre Boulez, Mark Elder, Vasily Petrenko, Vladimir Jurowski and Trevor Pinnock.
Her prizes include: European Competition for flute (2nd prize and public prize), Jonathan Myall Piccolo Competition (1st prize) Chris Taylor Flute Prize (2010) Leverhulme Orchestral Mentor Scholarship (2010)
Liset was on trial for: principal flute in London Philharmonic Orchestra (2013/14) sub principal flute in Welsh National Opera (2011/12, 2014/15) BBC National Orchestra of Wales (2009/10, 2013/14) and for principal piccolo in Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra (2011/12)
