Admission requirements
Diplomas
To be eligible as a prospective Bachelor degree programme student, you must have been awarded a diploma of higher secondary education that is equivalent to Dutch standards. If you have not yet received your secondary school diploma please fill out the diploma information form and submit this so we can proceed with the enrolment procedure. To be eligible as a prospective Master degree programme student, you must have been awarded a relevant Bachelor's degree that is equivalent to Dutch standards. English proficiency
For all course programmes conducted in the English language, a minimum level of proficiency in the English language is required, as detailed in the table below. You must substantiate your level of English-language proficiency by submitting evidence in the form of a language test result pertaining to one of the below-mentioned courses.
Fontys offers preparatory courses to prospective students who meet all of the prerequisites for enrolment on a degree course programme, but whose command of English does not meet the required minimum standard of IELTS 6.0. Some applicants may be exempted from submitting language proficiency test results, as follows:
- Applicants with Dutch HAVO (Senior General Secondary Education) and/or VWO (University Preparatory Education) diplomas.
- EEA / EU applicants with the required previous educational qualifications.
- Applicants whose previous education was conducted in the English language and was followed in a country in which English is an official language.
- Applicants whose mother tongue is English.
- Exchange students.
- Applicants to the fields of music, theatre, dance, visual arts and circus & performance arts, whereby other criteria may apply.
An applicant’s level of proficiency in the English language must always meet the entry requirements for the chosen Fontys course programme. Fontys reserves the right to require language proficiency testing for all categories of applicants.
